So, what do you think?

  1. Shawn Says:

Jacket, cardigan, shirt and pocket square combo is dead on. The only thing that I’d personally change is the bow tie. Looks a little kid-ish to me. I’d rock something more like an ancient madder, or a kind of dark, woodsy paisley bow-tie (and in a heavier fabric than silk). The jacket sleeves could be slimmed but it’s hard to say with the bent elbows if the ripples are just positional.

  2. marcoTHEtailor Says:

    great look. nice color combo.
only nitpick is all the checks don’t match up perfectly on sleeve head/shoulder.
not quite an old school/traditional fit but not slim cut either. good balance.

  3. Tolstroy Says:

Man, that’s a pretty jacket. And what country was this photo taken in? can’t make out the language on the wall

  4. Nate Says:

I am feeling this full-on preppy look. Really like everything except the bow tie. It just doesn’t fit somehow. Agree with shawn – something slightly smaller, in a heavier fabric and more muted colours. Good look though.

  5. Haz Says:

@marcoTHEtailor: from what I know (and what a tailor told me) you can either have the check matched up with the shoulder or the body of the jacket; since the guy is sitting, it’s difficult to tell if it is not the second scenario.

And yeah, not gonna be original here – I’d change the bow tie. Can’t find anything wrong with the rest.

  6. Haz Says:

@marcoTHEtailor: And, since you’re THE tailor, I’m not trying to be smarter than you, just put what I’ve heard out there; I’m ready to be corrected. ;]

  7. cam Says:

@ all – fwiw I submitted pics but the homies that run this blog emailed me personally to paraphrase here’s what they had to say “Sorry bro we can’t post your pics. They go so hard we’re afraid our readers don’t have enough pasta to soak up all your Swagu”

  8. Thomas Says:

    Swagu +1

The bow tie is about 3 weeks too late OR about 49 weeks too early.

@Marco, that is being a bit too nitpicky, you’re talking bespoke level

It’s a solid “TRAD” look, not preppy.

Even with the bowtie, I gibe it my highest recommendation~

    Good job.

  9. M Says:

    @tolstroy, it’s german…

@cam, goddamnit, hate to say it, but you’ve put a smile on my face…

  11. Nate Says:

@Thomas – what’s the difference? Just looks to me like something that a New England college professor would wear (and I mean that as a compliment!). Not that I’ve ever been to New England. Or any college in the US! Would appreciate your advice on this.

  12. Thomas Says:

@Nate I’ve tried to comment twice, in detail but it gets blocked. Look for Hollywood & the Ivy Look for proper Trad outfits.

  13. Thomas Says:

@Nate, Neo-Preppy is an abomination of the original 1980′s Prep look. The look has been high-jacked by the clothing industry which is trying to fob off garbage under the catch all Preppy name.
